Mile End Parent Council

The Mile End Parent Council (MEPC) is a group made up of parents and staff of Mile End School who represent the Parent Forum (which consists of all parents, guardians and carers of children attending the school).

The Parent Council (PC) is also the official body through which the Head Teacher communicates with parents on strategic issues. It is also an opportunity for the PC to relay issues from the Parent Forum to the Head Teacher.

We also receive communication directly from Aberdeen City Council. In turn the PC feeds directly into the Aberdeen City Parent Council Forum (ACPCF) and has Aberdeen City Council representation at every meeting of the ACPCF.

The Mile End Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a sub-group of the Mile End Parent Council and organizes social and fundraising events throughout the school year. The PTA constitution outlines its purpose as “the advancement of education, health and children’s participation in sport for the children of Mile End School”. It also promotes communication between parents/carers and teachers. Some parents are members of both the PC and the PTA.

Money raised in previous years has been spent on such things as playground markings, interactive whiteboards, football strips, school trips, classroom supplies and musical instruments, digital equipment – all “extras” for the benefit of children at our school.

We are always looking for new members. If you are interested in joining either the Parent Council or PTA please either email using the Contact Us forms, send a note through the school office, or speak to one of us in the playground.
