At Mile End our parents are lucky in that we have many ways to get involved with our children’s education which we sometimes forget we thought we would take this opportunity to calculate how many hours parents have invested this year and celebrate our findings at the AGM.
Mile End has a successful Parent Council with between 12-15 parents/teachers attending any given meeting. We also have a successful PTA with around 12 in attendance at meetings currently. During chats with other schools from across Scotland I noticed that a considerable amount have a combined PTA/PC and there members are in the main between 2.5% and 5% of their parent forum. We enjoy between 5% and 7% at our meetings and so perhaps not under attended but just above the average, we would all agree that we still like to increase this number to get a fair representation.
Parent council however is not the only way our parents get involved. Lets remind ourselves about the less visible volunteers in and around our school currently, can you add to the list? :-
Class Reps
Baking
Car washes
Parent Admin Team
Class helpers
Library Assistants
Football coaches
Lost property
Event helpers – tidy up teams / face painters /burger flippers!
Reading groups
Excursion helpers
Web designers / contributors
2nd hand uniform sales
low key fundraisers – cups of tea on sports days
Poster development and printing
Attending Council Meetings for M.E and representing parents
We are about to attempt to calculate the hours parents have spent investing in Mile End P.S can you send an email to mileendpc@yahoo.co.uk with a rough figure and what you did so we can celebrate our parent forums contribution to Mile Ends success at the upcoming AGM. It’s the number that’s important so should only take a few moments to feedback. Thank you.
Best Regards
